Voting Question: How to redeem AmTrak reward points for a free ride?

I have 1,700 points (which is weird because I had 2,200 last time I checked) and I was curious as to how you can tell how many points you'll need to travel between, say, Normal, IL and Joliet, IL (between college and home).
